BATON ROUGE — Senior men’s basketball player Antonio Hudson, enjoying his best season as an LSU Tigers, joined an elite group of players to have scored 1,000 career points in their LSU career.

Hudson passed the 1,000-point mark on a three-pointer in the final seven minutes of Thursday’s game in the Nokia Sugar Bowl Classic in New Orleans against Florida State. The Seminoles had cut the game down to five points before Hudson twice and Tack Minor once put in three-point baskets to push the lead back to double figures. It was on the first trey in that segment that Hudson got his 14th point of the night, giving the Grambling, La., native his 1,000 point.

Hudson finished with 18 points and now has 1,004 points entering Monday night’s game in Salt Lake City against Utah (8 p.m. MST, 9 p.m. CST). On his current scoring pace, Hudson could move into the top 20 in scoring by season’s end.

The Tigers arrived in Salt Lake City at mid-afternoon on New Year’s Day and worked for some two hours in the Huntsman Center getting acclimated to the elements.
