Former Tiger Duncan in Contention at LPGA Qualifying

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Former LSU women’s golfer Meredith Duncan remains in contention to retain her Ladies Professional Golf Association playing card after two rounds Friday of the LPGA Qualifying School.

The 90-hole event continues through Sunday with the top 30 getting exempt status for the 2005 season and the next 35 receiving non-exempt status and the opportunity to enter certain tournaments when openings exist.

Duncan has fired even par rounds of 72-72 to stand at 144, tied for 31st place in a tournament led by Young Jo at seven-under 137. Duncan, the former United States Women’s Amateur Champion from Shreveport, played at LSU from 1999-02.

Another former Lady Tiger, Ashley Winn, is at four-over 148 (76-72) and is tied for 72nd place after 36 holes.

The cut will come after 72 holes to the top 70 and ties.
