BATON ROUGE — LSU running back Alley Broussard has been named the Southeatern Conference Offensive Player of the Week following his school-record 250 yards rushing in the 27-24 win over Ole Miss on Saturday.
Broussard, a sophomore from Lafayette, carried the ball 26 times for 250 yards and three touchdowns. The 250 yards bettered the previous LSU mark of 246 set by Kevin Faulk against Houston in 1996. The 250 yards also marked the single-game high in the conference this year and ranks as the 14th-highest total in SEC history.
Broussard scored on a pair of 1-yard runs in the first quarter and then added the game-winner, a 7-yard burst, early in the fourth quarter. For the game, Broussard averaged 9.6 yards per carry. He had runs of 58, 44 and 30 yards against the Rebels.
For the season, Broussard leads the Tigers with 677 yards rushing and nine touchdowns.
In, all the Tigers rushed for 360 yards on 52 attempts against Ole Miss, which marked the highest total for an LSU team since going for 400 yards against Kentucky in 1997.
The SEC Player of the Week honor is the first for Broussard in his career. Broussard also earned Louisiana Player of the Week honors on Monday.
