BATON ROUGE — LSU continued its march back towards a top 10 national ranking, moving two spots to No. 12 in this week’s USA Today/ESPN Coaches poll, which was released on Sunday.
The Tigers jumped from No. 14 to No. 12 in the coaches poll, but didn’t budge in the Associated Press Top 25 remaining at No. 14 for the second straight week following Saturday’s 27-24 win over Ole Miss. LSU has now been ranked for 32 consecutive periods in the coaches poll and for 31 straight weeks in the AP poll.
The win over Ole Miss ran LSU’s winning streak to five straight as the Tigers improved to 8-2 overall and 5-2 in Southeastern Conference action. LSU closes out its season on Friday against Arkansas in Little Rock.
Southern Cal remained No. 1 in both polls, followed by Oklahoma, Auburn and California. Utah is No. 5 in the AP poll and No. 6 in the coaches poll, while Texas is No. 5 in the coaches poll and No. 6 in the AP poll.
