Men’s Tennis Ends Season on Positive Note

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — LSU’s men’s tennis team ended its fall season Sunday with its hidden dual match against Texas A&M. Two Tigers earned singles wins and one pair earned a doubles win.

In the consolation finals of the ITA Indoor Championships in Ann Arbor, Mich., Ken Skupski and Mark Growcott lost, 9-8 to Ivan Angulo Carrasco and Ricardo Omanna of the College of Santa Fe.

“Ken and Mark had a good run in the back draw,” said LSU associate head coach Mark Booras. “I think we’ve learned what we need to work on for the rest of the fall and in the spring.”

Paul White and Kevin Dessauer won their singles matches at the Texas A&M Invitational, and Peter Richman and Colt Gaston picked up their second win of the weekend Sunday. Three other singles matches went to three sets.

“Peter and Colt really came together as a team this weekend,” said LSU head coach Jeff Brown.

Brown said he was pleased with the way his team finished the fall season.

“There were some intense matches going on there,” he said. “I think we got a lot out of this dual match-type situation.”

The Tigers have a break until January, when they host the SEC Coaches Indoor Championships in New Orleans.
