BATON ROUGE — Members of the LSU softball team, which advanced to the Women’s College World Series and finished third in the nation last year, held a clinic for the Greenlawn Eagles softball team from Kenner on Oct. 2.
The Tigers taught the 7-8 year olds about the fundamentals of softball during the clinic. Members of the LSU team also gave personalized on the field instruction to the children about hitting, fielding and catching. Following the day’s activities, LSU players also handed out the Eagles’ end of the season awards.
This weekend, the Tigers will host their annual Fall Collegiate Classic softball tournament. LSU will take on Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College on Saturday at 9 a.m. before playing Spring Hill College at 1 p.m. The tournament concludes on Sunday with the Tigers once again battling Spring Hill at 9 p.m. before closing out the action against Southeastern Louisiana at 1 p.m.
