BATON ROUGE — The Tiger gymnastics team capped off a fun-filled week of Homecoming activities with its annual Awards Reception Friday evening followed by an appearance in LSU’s Homecoming parade on Saturday.
The Awards Reception recognized the team for an outstanding 2004 season; a year that saw the Tigers win the NCAA Central Regional title and finish seventh at the national championships.
Individually, the student-athletes were honored for accomplishments in the competitive arena as well as in the classroom.
April Burkholder and Annie Gagnon each received their All-America awards, while Burkholder, Lisa Rennie and Lindsay Beddow were awarded medals from the SEC for their 2004 all-conference performances.
In addition, Lindsey Thompson was named the team’s Most Improved athlete, while Gagnon was given the Dee Dee Fulmer Gilbert Award for excelling both in competition and in the classroom.
On Saturday, the team gathered with family and fans of the program to participate in the annual Homecoming parade. The team visited with fans and handed out schedule cards to help promote the upcoming season.
