ATHENS, Ga. — The LSU volleyball team closed out a four-match road trip with a three-game loss to Georgia, 30-27, 30-22, 30-19, on Sunday afternoon at the Ramsey Center.

With the loss, the Tigers fell to 10-8 overall and 2-6 in Southeastern Conference action. The Bulldogs improved to 12-5 overall and 5-3 in league play.

“We had several people with solid performances today,” said LSU head coach Fran Flory. “Unfortunately we could not maintain those performances over a long period of time. We fought hard throughout the match, but we did not take advantage of our opportunities. It was a lost opportunity kind of match.”

Jelena Mijatovic led the Tigers with 13 kills, while Ivana Kuzmic and Regan Hood each recorded nine. Daniela Romero posted a double-double with 31 assists and 12 digs. Rachel Pittman also had 12 digs for LSU, while Kuzmic led the team with three blocks.

“I thought Dee (Romero) played well and created some good opportunities, but our offense just let us down,” said Flory.

Georgia was led by Julia Petruschke with 15 kills and Alexandra Oquendo with 11 kills and nine blocks. Brooke Burlingame led the Bulldogs with 11 digs.

While the Tigers out killed Georgia, 45-42, and out dug the Bulldogs, 51-46, the difference in the game was the blocking and hitting percentages.
