BATON ROUGE — Coming off its thrilling last-minute win over then-No. 12 Florida on Saturday in Gainesville, LSU moved up four spots to No. 20 in this week’s Associated Press poll, which was released on Sunday.
The Tigers, who have now been ranked for 25 straight ranking periods in the AP poll, jumped from No. 24 to No. 21 in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches’ poll. LSU has spent 26 consecutive weeks in the coaches poll.
With Saturday’s win over Florida, the Tigers moved to 4-2 overall and even their league record at 2-2. LSU will now play four of its last five games at home, starting with the Troy contest on Oct. 23. The Tigers will enjoy an open date this week before hosting the Trojans for Homecoming in two weeks.
Southern Cal, 23-16 winners over California on Saturday, remained No. 1 in the nation in both polls, while Oklahoma, a 12-0 winner over Texas, holds down the No. 2 spot in both polls. Auburn, a 52–7 winner over Louisiana Tech, is the highest-ranked Southeastern Conference team in the polls, coming in at No. 4 in both rankings.
