ATHENS, Ga. — The LSU soccer team will look to keep their SEC undefeated streak going when they head to Athens, Ga. this weekend to take on the Georgia Bulldogs Friday at 6 p.m. CST at the Georgia Soccer Complex.

“We know Georgia is a great team,” said LSU co-head coach Danielle Fotopoulos. “They pretty unpredictable this year, and they are a team we always play tough against.

The Tigers (6-5-1, 1-2-1 SEC) had not won a game against Georgia (2-6-3, 0-3-1 SEC) until last year when they dominated the Bulldogs at home, 4-1. LSU defeated Ole Miss last Friday in Oxford 2-1, and then would tie Mississippi State on Sunday, 0-0.

Georgia has struggled so far this season only winning two of their eleven games so far. The Bulldogs have yet to get a win in SEC play as they are 0-3-1 with their only points coming in a tie against South Carolina on Friday, Oct. 1 at Columbia, S.C.

“Georgia always has great attendance and it is an SEC game so it is going to be a tough one,” said Fotopoulos.

The Bulldogs are lead by senior Tricia McKee and freshman Karen Zmirak. McKee leads the team in goals, while Zmirak leads the team in assists and points with only one start.

The Tigers are lead by Baton Rouge native Artie Brown, sophomore Stacy Bishop and freshman SEC Defensive Player of the Week Valerie Vogler.

Brown with 33 career goals is only three goals away from tying the career record holder Jackie Cooper who had 36 goals from 1995-1996. Brown is also six points from the career points record of 82, which is also held by Cooper.

LSU will take on Tennessee on Sunday, Oct. 10 to finish the weekend. The Tigers will spend the next weekend at home against Alabama on Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. and Auburn on Oct. 17 at 2 p.m.
