BATON ROUGE — The defending Southeastern Conference champion LSU softball team will host the 2004 LSU Fall Collegiate Classic this weekend at Tiger Park.
The Tigers, who finished third in the Women’s College World Series in 2003, will host the four-team tournament, which also includes Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, Spring Hill College and Southeastern Louisiana. Admission to the tournament is free and open to the public.
Play will begin on Saturday at 9 a.m. as LSU takes on Mississippi Gulf Coast CC. Spring Hill will then face Mississippi Gulf Coast at 11 a.m. before the Tigers battle Spring Hill in the day’s final game at 1 p.m.
The tournament will conclude on Sunday, as LSU faces Spring Hill College once again at 9 p.m. Southeastern Louisiana will then take on Spring Hill at 11 a.m. before the Tigers close out the action against Southeastern Louisiana at 1 p.m.
The Tigers will open the 2005 schedule on the road at the UNLV Desert Classic in Las Vegas on Feb. 11-13. LSU will take on Central Florida, Washington, Illinois and Louisville.
The Tigers will open play at home in the LSU Tiger Classic on Feb. 18-20 in Tiger Park. LSU will face Indiana, Grambling State and Nicholls State in the three-day tournament.
