Soccer Looks to Continue Road Success at Mississippi State

STARKVILLE, Miss. — The Tiger soccer team will take on Mississippi State Sunday at the MSU Soccer Field at 1 p.m.

The Tigers (6-5-0, 1-2 SEC) are 7-2 all-time against the Bulldogs (4-5-2, 1-2 SEC). LSU defeated Mississippi State 2-1 last year in Baton Rouge on Oct. 12.

“This is a big turn around for us this season since we are 1-2 in the SEC,” said LSU co-head coach Danielle Fotopoulos. “We want to come out of here with a 500 record. The girls are really prepared, very excited and feeling good about tomorrows game.”

Mississippi State comes into the game having lost to Arkansas 2-1 at home in overtime. The Bulldogs only SEC win so far came against Georgia in an overtime game

“I think we just have to continue to execute our system of play,” said Fotopoulos. “Stacy Bishop came up big scoring two goals for us last night, and Artie Brown playing her role in scoring is going to be a must. It is going to be a must win situation for us tomorrow.”

Artie Brown with 33 career goals is only three goals away from tying the career record holder Jackie Cooper who had 36 goals from 1995-1996.

The Tigers will spend the next weekend on the road, as the Tigers will travel to play Georgia on Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. and Tennessee on Oct. 10 at 1 p.m.
