Tigers Finish Opening SEC Weekend Against Vanderbilt

BATON ROUGE — The LSU soccer team will take on Vanderbilt Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Tiger Soccer Complex.

The Tigers (5-4-0, 0-1 SEC) are 1-5-1 all-time against the Commodores (1-5-1, 0-1 SEC). The last time the two teams met was Oct. 5, 2003 when Vanderbilt beat LSU 1-0 in a very close game in Nashville, Tenn.

“We need to get organized and do a little better, because Vanderbilt is a good team,” said LSU co-head coach George Fotopoulos. “We need to come out and be competitive and keep ourselves in a position to win the game.”

Vanderbilt is also looking for its first SEC win as they come into the game off of a 2-1 loss to Arkansas Friday, Sept. 24. The Commodores have only one win on the season against Drury, 4-0. Vanderbilt averages one goal a game and have given up 12 goals in seven games.

The Tigers have only two goals in the last five games. All but one goal this season has come from the Tiger forwards Artie Brown, Stacy Bishop and Michelle De Cespedes.

The Tigers will go on the road next weekend, as the Tigers will travel to play Ole Miss on Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. and Mississippi State on Oct. 3 at 1 p.m.
