BOULDER, Colo. — The Tiger soccer team looks to rebound from a tough weekend last weekend as the Tigers dropped two in Columbus, Ohio at the Buckeye Classic. LSU (4-2-0) will face Colorado (4-1-1) on Friday, Sept. 17 at the Pleasant View Soccer Complex in the third meeting between the two schools.
“In the game against Colorado we are really working on our defensive shape and moving the ball better,” said LSU co-head coach Danielle Fotopoulos. “Colorado is a good team and a top 20 team.
LSU has yet to beat Colorado and is 2-7-1 all-time against Big XII. The last game the Tigers played against a Big XII opponent was Texas last year in Austin, where the Tigers lost to Texas 4-3 in overtime.
Colorado, the 27th ranked team in the nation and 6th ranked team in the central region, comes into the game 4-1-1 with its only loss coming to San Diego in overtime. The Buffs won both of their games last weekend beating both Utah and Wake Forest.
“We just want to play hard, and keep our team positive and prepare for SEC play,” said Fotopoulos.
Senior Artie Brown will look to get back on track having scored a goal in the first four games of the season, but not scoring once in both of the Tigers losses. The Baton Rouge native is only four goals away from tying Jackie Cooper for the career goals record of 36 set in 1996.
LSU will take on Wyoming on Sunday, Sept. 19 in the Colorado Classic. The Tigers will spend the next weekend at home as they open SEC play against Kentucky on Sept. 24 and Vanderbilt on Sept. 26.
