BATON ROUGE — With the impending approach of Hurricane Ivan, the LSU volleyball team cancelled the Tiger Classic tournament this weekend and will instead travel to SMU for several matches.
A schedule has yet to be finalized, but the Tigers will either play on Friday and Sunday or on Friday and Saturday and should have matches against SMU, Miami and possibly Wisconsin-Milwaukee or Stephen F. Austin.
This is the second time this season that the LSU volleyball schedule has been affected by a hurricane. The Tigers were scheduled to travel to Orlando, Fla., for the UCF Fall Classic two weeks ago, but Hurricane Frances caused the cancellation of that tournament. LSU hosted Central Florida and Rice in a tournament in Baton Rouge where the Tigers posted a 3-0 record.
