BATON ROUGE — Holding the decision in its hand, ESPN passed on next week’s game between fourth-ranked LSU and Mississippi State instead taking unranked Kentucky against Florida, the Southeastern Conference announced on Monday.
As a result, LSU’s game against Mississippi State will be televised by Jefferson Pilot and will kickoff at 11:30 a.m. from Tiger Stadium on Sept. 25.
“We’re obviously very disappointed in this decision by ESPN,” LSU senior associate athletics director Dan Radakovich said. “We worked hard through ESPN and the SEC Office to try to get this game televised at night but ESPN chose to go in a different direction.”
The only other SEC game slated for television on Sept. 25 has Alabama facing Arkansas on CBS at 2:30 p.m. The Florida-Kentucky game will carry a 5 p.m. CT start on ESPN from Gainesville.
