Tigers Travel to Ohio State for Early Season Test

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The LSU women’s soccer team (4-0) will take on Ohio State (2-2) Friday in the Buckeye Classic at 7:30 p.m. EST at the Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. The Tigers are coming off of a double overtime win against Stephen F. Austin, 2-1.

“We are very excited here; Ohio State being ranked preseason No. 10,” said LSU co-head coach George Fotopoulos. “We feel it is going to be a great test for us after an exciting game on Wednesday. We are just excited to get into the part of our schedule where game in and game out we are going to be competing against top 20 teams in the country.”

The Buckeyes come into the game winning both games last week against Xavier and Louisville after losing their first two games against Washington and Portland. Ohio State was ranked at the beginning of the season, but have since fallen out of the polls and are only receiving votes.

The game marks the first ever meeting between the two teams, and the first time that LSU has played a team from the Big Ten. Ohio State is 1-3 against teams from the SEC having only beaten Arkansas.

LSU will continue action at the Buckeye Classic on Sunday as they take on the Dayton Flyers at 11:30 a.m. EST at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
