BATON ROUGE — The Tiger soccer (3-0) team will take on Stephen F. Austin (1-1) Wednesday night at 7 p.m. in their last game of the four game home stand. LSU is on a 18-game winning streak against non-conference opponents at home.
“This is going to be our first game against a team that played in the NCAA Tournament last year,” said LSU co-head coach George Fotopoulos. “They are the reining Southland Conference champions and have plenty of experience and good coaching.”
Last time the two teams met was in 2002 in the season opener for both teams. The Tigers cruised to a 2-0 victory in Nacogdoches.
“I think this game will let us see where we are at this point in the season,” said Fotopoulos. “Coming off of that emotion win I want to see how we will do.”
Senior Artie Brown looks to get closer to the career goals record leading the team with fours goals in the first three games. Jackie Cooper holds the record with 36 goals.
The Tigers will be on the road this weekend traveling to Columbus, Ohio to play in the Buckeye Classic. They will take on Ohio State Friday, Oct. 10 at 7:30 p.m. EST and Dayton Sunday, Oct. 12 at 11:30 a.m.
Pluckers will be providing food for the Tiger Goal Getter Pavilion at the Stephen F. Austin game. For information on becoming a Tiger Goal Getter, call the LSU Soccer office at 225-578-8256.
