BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — A total of 71 LSU student-athletes were named to the 2003-04 SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll, SEC Commissioner Mike Slive announced on Wednesday.
The nationally ranked LSU men’s and women’s track teams topped the list of teams with members on the Honor Roll, placing 18 women and 15 men on the list. In addition, 12 members of the nationally ranked Tiger baseball team made the list, as they prepare to battle Texas A&M in the NCAA Super Regional this weekend. All-Americans Kristin Schmidt, LaDonia Hughes and Leslie Klein were three of the six members of the Women’s College World Series softball team that were honored.
Six men’s golfers and five women’s golfers earned Academic Honor Roll honors, while five men’s tennis players and four women were named to the list.
A total of 774 student-athletes were named to the 2003-04 SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll. The University of Georgia topped the list with 86 student-athletes on the spring academic roster. The University of Florida and South Carolina were next with 84 honorees each. Auburn University was close behind with 76 spring student-athletes honored.
The 2004 SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll is based on grades from the 2003 Spring, Summer and Fall terms.
