The Baton Rouge regional is one of sixteen regional tournaments being played around the country this weekend. The winners of these tournaments will meet the following weekend in eight Super Regional tournaments with those winners moving on to Omaha for the College World Series.

Traveling to Baton Rouge this weekend will be Southern Mississippi (44-17), Army (37-13) and the College of Charleston (45-14). They will be hosted by LSU (41-17), which is hosting a regional for the 15th straight year and 16th overall.

The tournament is a double elimination affair with Number 1 seed LSU taking on #4 Army in game 1 beginning at 2PM Friday, followed by #2 Seed Southern Miss matching up with #3 College of Charleston in game two at 6:30 PM.

Saturday will showcase a tripleheader beginning at 11 AM with a loser’s bracket game (game 3) followed by the winner’s bracket game at 3:00 PM (game 4), then at 7:30PM in game 5 it’s another elimination game with the winner moving on to Sunday.

Championship Sunday begins at 1PM with game 4 winner versus the game 5 winner (game 6). If necessary, a game seven will begin 50 minutes after game 6, with the same two teams battling for the right to take on the winner of the Houston Regional in the Super Regionals.

Calling all of the NCAA Regional action for CST will be play-by-play announcer Lyn Rollins and analyst Ben McDonald, a former LSU and major league star pitcher.
