Harris Named LSWA Softball Hitter of the Week

BATON ROUGE — After recording a pair of home runs last week, including LSU’s first grand slam of the season, Camille Harris was named the Louisiana Hitter of the Week by the Louisiana Sports Writer’s Association on Tuesday.

The sophomore outfielder was 4-for-9 (.444) in three games on the week with two home runs, three runs scored and six RBIs for a 1.111 slugging percentage. She had a hit in all three games and is currently riding a five-game hitting streak and in the process improved her season batting average 12 points to .298.

In the first game of the series against nationally ranked Auburn, she recorded her fifth home run of the season as LSU broke the single-season team home run record. She recorded a season-best five RBIs in game two of the series as the Hendersonville, Tenn., native, assured LSU of a run-rule victory over Auburn with a grand slam home run that gave LSU the eight-run advantage.

It is the first LSWA honor of the season for Harris as she becomes the sixth LSU player to be named the Louisiana Hitter of the Week.
