BATON ROUGE — The LSU men’s tennis team was ranked No. 14 Tuesday when the Intercollegiate Tennis Association released its weekly poll.
The Tigers (17-6, 7-4 SEC) fell one spot from their previous ranking after a loss in the quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament to Kentucky, which was ranked No. 12 this week.
LSU was ranked fifth among Southeastern Conference teams, behind No. 5 Ole Miss, No. 7 Georgia and No. 9 Florida. Two more SEC teams, Tennessee and Vanderbilt, were listed in the top 25.
LSU freshman Ken Skupski was the only Tiger listed in the singles rankings at No. 31. Skupski, a Liverpool, England, native was the second-highest ranking freshman in the nation.
LSU’s top two doubles teams remained in the rankings. Bryan Fisher and Jason Hazley were rated 18th and Cory Ross and Sebastian Rutka were 55th.
The next action for the Tigers will be in the NCAA Regional Tournament, which begins May 15. Tournament seedings and host sites will be announced next week.
