BATON ROUGE — The LSU women’s tennis team earned its highest ranking of the season Tuesday when the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rated them No. 18.
The Lady Tigers (18-8, 6-5 SEC) leapt two spots from last week’s No. 20 ranking. They have been in the top 25 for six consecutive weeks.
LSU is ranked fifth among SEC teams behind No. 2 Florida, No. 3 Vanderbilt, No. 5 Georgia and No. 16 Kentucky. Tennessee is just behind at No. 23.
Senior Jessica Ferguson was the only Lady Tiger listed in the individual rankings. Ferguson, a Houston native, also moved up nine spots to No. 58 in the singles poll.
LSU finished its regular season Sunday with a 5-2 loss to No. 12 Tulane. The Lady Tigers now await their NCAA Tournament fate, which will be announced next week.
