BATON ROUGE — With less than a half inning played, the second-ranked LSU softball team’s game against No. 19 Auburn was called due to poor field conditions because of rain.
With two outs and one on in the top of the first inning, hard rain postponed play for 45 minutes. After clearing the tarp and prepping the field for play to continue, it was determined that water in the outfield was too hazardous for play to continue and the game was cancelled.
LSU will close out the 2004 regular season next weekend at home against nationally ranked Florida. The Fighting Tigers will host the Gators in a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at noon. The series will conclude with a single game on Sunday at noon as LSU honors it four seniors.
