BATON ROUGE — Three days after clinching the SEC Western Division title, the LSU women’s tennis teams has moved up to 19th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings.
The Lady Tigers (15-6, 6-5) take on Southern today at 2 p.m. in a final tune-up before the Southeastern Conference Tournament begins. They leave tomorrow for Nashville to try and earn their first tournament win since 2000.
LSU has won eight of their last nine matches, propelling them to a meteoric rise in the rankings. They were rated 62nd in the nation just over a month ago, before two top-20 upsets and a six-match win streak.
Individual rankings were not released this week, but Jessica Ferguson, LSU’s senior from Houston, remains the 50th-ranked singles player in the country.
