BATON ROUGE — The No. 13-ranked LSU men’s tennis team will try to get back to its winning ways Friday at 1 p.m. in a conference road match against 24th-ranked Arkansas.
The Tigers (13-4, 5-3 SEC) are currently second in the SEC West, two matches ahead of the Razorbacks. LSU is in need of a win after suffering a loss Wednesday to 27th-ranked Tulane in a break from SEC play.
Arkansas is led by powerful sophomore Adrians Zguns, who is ranked 19th in the nation in singles. Senior Nathan Price is also ranked 83rd in singles. Price is ranked 45th in doubles with Matt Simpson.
LSU has won its last three matches in SEC play over Mississippi State, Auburn and Alabama. Arkansas is the last SEC Western Division rival the Tigers face this season.
“Arkansas is solid,” said LSU assistant coach Mark Booras. “They have some wins in the top 30 this season and they are the same caliber team as Tulane. They will give us a good fight.”
LSU senior Cory Ross will be defending a four-match singles win streak and a seven-win doubles streak with Sebastian Rutka. Peter Richman and Ken Skupski have also won their last six doubles matches.
The Tigers lead the all-time series, 15-3 and have won every meeting with the Hogs since they joined the SEC in 1991.
The Tigers play one more road match, Sunday against Tulsa, before returning home for their last two SEC matches. They play Florida and South Carolina on April 16 and 18.
