BATON ROUGE — Three days after winning its second NCAA Central Regional title in three years, the LSU gymnastics team learned its fate for the 2004 NCAA Championships as session and rotation assignments were announced Monday.
The Tigers will compete in the second of two preliminary round sessions that is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. (CDT) Thursday, April 15. LSU will be joined by defending national champion, UCLA, perennial national powers Utah and Alabama, as well as Big Ten champion Michigan and Arizona State in the evening session.
The morning session will feature Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Stanford.
The Tigers will begin competition on the beam. They will sit out the second rotation with a bye before competing on the floor and vault. LSU will then have its second and final bye before concluding competition on the bars.
The top-three teams from each session will advance to the Super Six finals to be held, Friday, April 16, at 9 p.m. In addition, the top four individuals on each event, from each prelim session will qualify to Saturday’s individual event finals to be held at 9 p.m.
