BATON ROUGE — Nick Saban, who led the Tigers to the 2003 national title in football, spoke to the LSU women’s basketball team for 15 minutes on Friday at the Maravich Center.
Saban spoke to the Lady Tigers prior to their final practice before departing for the Final Four in New Orleans. LSU is making its first appearance in the NCAA Final Four. The Lady Tigers face Tennessee at 6 p.m on Sunday at the New Orleans Arena in one national semifinal contest.
“You’ve done a tremendous job and I want to congratulate you for what you’ve accomplished up to this point,” Saban told the team.
Saban added for the Lady Tigers to “focus on the process of what it takes to be successful, to dominate their opponent on every possession and to focus on the next play and forget about the last play.
“And if you do that, then whatever happens in the game you’ll be able live with because you will have done the very best that you can.”
Saban’s message to the Lady Tigers was consistent with the theme the he relayed to his football team on its way to the national title.
