Lady Tigers Ranked at No. 25 for Second-Straight Week

BATON ROUGE — The LSU women’s tennis team was ranked No. 25 in the nation for the second week in a row Tuesday when the Intercollegiate Tennis Association released its poll.

The Lady Tigers (11-6, 3-5) have won four out of their last five matches and swept a pair of road matches against Mississippi State and Ole Miss this past weekend.

With the wins, they moved into contention for the SEC Western Division title with three conference matches left. They play host to Auburn on Friday and division- leading Alabama on Sunday.

LSU is one win behind 23rd-ranked Alabama (9-7, 4-4) in the race for the Western Division title.

In addition to LSU and Alabama, four other SEC teams were ranked among the nation’s top-25. Florida, Georgia and Vanderbilt were ranked in the top five and Kentucky, which LSU beat earlier this season, was 16th.

New individual rankings were not released this week. Jessica Ferguson, LSU’s senior from Houston, remains the 62nd-ranked singles player in the nation.
