BATON ROUGE — Four NCAA regional qualifying marks highlighted first-day action for the LSU track and field team Friday evening at the Tiger Relays.

The Lady Tigers had three athletes post qualifying times in the 100-meter hurdles en route to advancing to Saturday’s final.

All-American Lolo Jones won her heat while turning in the field’s second fastest time (13.35). RaNysha LeBlanc also finished first in her heat, advancing with a time of 13.86, while Brittany Littlejohn moved on in 13.73.

Sophomore Brandon Racca turned in LSU’s other qualifying mark, placing second in the javelin with a season-best effort of 205-10. He was followed Pat Perrien (200-11) and Taylor Bobo (194-3) in the standings. They finished third and fourth, respectively.

LSU recorded a sweep in sprint medley relay as both the men and women won gold. Running legs of 100-100-200-400, Lolo Jones, Monique Hall, Brittany Harris and Hazelann Regis combined to clock an impressive time of 1:39.78.

For the men, Bennie Brazell, Marvin Stevenson, Kelly Willie and Pete Coley teamed up to dominate the nearest competitor by over six seconds with their time of 1:26.48.

Other solid performances for LSU included a pair of runner-up finishes for the men’s and women’s distance medley relay teams.

The foursome of Ruth Nanyinza, Whitney Mitchell, Michelle Hymel and Tanya Osbourne finished in 12:13.60 for the Lady Tigers, while Austin Benton, Jeffrey Fisher, Andrew Huston and Ben Shumaker clocked 9:59.44 on the men’s side.

Action from the LSU Tiger Relays will wrap up tomorrow, March 27. Field events are scheduled to begin at noon. Running events will follow at 2 p.m.
