OXFORD, Miss. — The No. 25-ranked Lady Tigers will try for their first SEC road win Friday at 4 p.m. when they play Western Division rival Ole Miss.

LSU (9-6, 1-5) has won two of its last three matches. The two wins, upsets over 16th-ranked Texas A&M and 15th-ranked Kentucky, propelled the Lady Tigers to the top-25 for the first time since 2001.

Head coach Tony Minnis believes No. 58 Ole Miss (9-7, 1-5) is a threat despite their lower ranking.

“They have lost a lot of 4-3 matches this year,” he said. “We had better be prepared to play.”

The Lady Tigers and Lady Rebels split their series last year. LSU won in the regular season, but Ole Miss later eliminated them from the SEC Tournament.

“Last year we beat them, 4-3, and they beat us, 4-3, so this should be very competitive,” Minnis said.

The Lady Tigers 62nd-ranked senior Jessica Ferguson has knocked off several higher ranked opponents this weekend. She will likely face Ole Miss’ 53rd-ranked Chloe Carlotti at No. 1 singles.

Carlotti and Virginia Tomatis make up the nation’s 36th-ranked doubles team. They will most likely face LSU’s Rocio Fantilli and Lauren Seaman at No. 1 doubles.

Live scoring for the match will be available at LSUsports.net.
