BATON ROUGE — The LSU women’s tennis team will play host to 15th-ranked Kentucky (12-6, 3-1) on Friday at 4 p.m. in their first SEC home match of the season.
The Lady Tigers (8-5, 0-4) will play their first match in over a week and their first since they stunned 16th-ranked Texas A&M in their first home match in over a month.
LSU is still searching for their first SEC win of the season after facing four tough opponents on the road to open conference play. They have won 10 consecutive home matches dating back to March of 2003.
The Lady Wildcats are led by junior Aibika Kalsarieva, who is ranked 25th in the nation in singles. LSU’s Jessica Ferguson has not backed down from top-ranked opponents in her last two matches, beating Texas A&M’s 21st-ranked Jessica Roland and Tennessee’s 62nd-ranked Sabita Maharaj. Ferguson was named SEC Player of the Week after the two upsets.
The Lady Tigers will also take on fourth-ranked Vanderbilt at home Sunday.
