Track and Field Opens Outdoor Season at Texas A&M

BATON ROUGE — Less than a week removed from its sweep of the men’s and women’s national titles at the NCAA Indoor Championships, the LSU track and field is returning to action this Thursday through Saturday as it begins the outdoor season at the Texas A&M Multis in College Station.

The meet will be held at the Anderson Track and Field Complex with competition in the men’s decathlon and the women’s heptathlon running Thursday through Friday and individual field and running events taking place on Saturday.

Athletes from over 21 teams are schedule to compete in the multi-events, while 13 teams are slated for Saturday’s individual events. Top teams in the field include Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska and Texas A&M.

LLSU athletes scheduled to compete in the multi-events include Gavin Fleming and Kwami Roberts for the Tigers and Megan Akre, Dianne Harrison and Julie Bertrand for the Lady Tigers.

LSU’s javelin throwers will see their first action of the season on Saturday. Maria Romero will throw for the women, while Taylor Bobo and Patrick Perrien are expected to compete for the men.

Following the Texas A&M Multis, the LSU track and field team opens the outdoor home schedule with the LSU Tiger Relays, March 26-27, at Bernie Moore Track Stadium.
