BATON ROUGE — LSU’s Will Harris and Louisiana College’s James Halle have been named Louisiana’s baseball players of the week, the Louisiana Sports Writer’s Association announced on Tuesday.
Harris, a sophomore first baseman for the Tigers, enjoyed an outstanding week for LSU, batting .875 (7-for-8) with one homer, six RBI and two runs. The Slidell, La., native was a perfect 4-for-4 with one run and two RBI in LSU’s 6-1 win over UL-Monroe Tuesday night. Harris, the younger brother of LSU’s all-SEC infielder Clay Harris, launched a grand slam — LSU’s first of the season — in the Tigers victory over Southeastern Louisiana on Friday.
Halle fired a complete game, seven-inning no-hitter in the second game of a doubleheader victory over the University of the Ozarks. The sophomore hurler struck out 10 and walked one, facing the mimimum 21 hitters. The Pineville, La. native improved to 2-0 on the season.
