BATON ROUGE — Sunday’s series finale between Southeastern Louisiana and LSU in Alex Box Stadium was canceled in the top of the fifth inning due to heavy rain. The game has been re-scheduled for Wednesday, May 19 at 6:30 p.m. in Alex Box Stadium.
After four complete innings of play on Sunday — with LSU holding a 2-1 lead — a heavy rain began to fall at 2:15 p.m. At 2:21 p.m., home plate umpire Ray Miller ordered both teams off of the field.
LSU coach Smoke Laval and SLU coach Dan Canevari agreed to re-schedule the contest for May 19. Fans are reminded to hold on to Sunday’s ticket stubs for admittance to the May 19 game.
Statistics from Sunday’s canceled game are not official. The May 19 make-up game will be a complete, nine-inning contest.
The Tigers return to action on Tuesday when they entertain New Orleans at 6:30 p.m. LSU opens Southeastern Conference play next weekend at third-ranked South Carolina.
