BATON ROUGE — The LSU Lady Tiger golf team closes out the regular season with the Lady Gamecock Classic, Friday through Sunday at Columbia, S. C., at the school’s University Club course.
This will be the final event before the Tigers host the women’s Southeastern Conference championships in mid-April in Baton Rouge at the LSU University Club.
LSU is coming off a third place finish in the LSU/Cleveland Golf Classic last weekend at the University Club behind winner North Carolina and Tulane. LSU has one win this season, in the Central District Regional at Parrish, Fla. with a second place finish at the Sugar Bowl to go with the third at the Cleveland Classic.
“We are doing some very good things and look forward to getting to play another weekend,” said LSU Coach Karen Bahnsen. “This will be another very good test for us and give us a good indication of where we stand heading into the SEC Championships.”
Junior Brooke Shelton has been the hot golfer as of late for LSU, coming off a third place finish in the LSU/Cleveland Classic. She enters the Carolina event on a string of four straight top 10 finishes and she has a total of six in her career.
The 54-hole event runs 18 holes each day through Sunday and live scoring for the event can be found at www.golfstat.com.
