BATON ROUGE — The Lady Tigers’ tennis team will play in their home stadium for the first time in almost four weeks when they play host to Texas A&M Thursday at 2 p.m.
Topping the 16th-ranked Lady Aggies will not be an easy task for the Lady Tigers, who will be trying to keep their record perfect. LSU (7-5, 0-4) has lost four straight matches on the road to open the Southeastern Conference season.
“Texas A&M is really good, but it will be nice to be back home,” said LSU head coach Tony Minnis. “We played some tough teams on the road.”
LSU’s Jessica Ferguson is coming off a big win over South Carolina’s 62nd-ranked Sabita Maharaj at No. 1 singles. She will need another big performance to overcome her likely opponent, Texas A&M’s 21st-ranked Jessica Roland.
“Our kids have been scrappy,” Minnis said. “We’ve just got to keep working hard and fighting.”
The Lady Tigers lost to Texas A&M twice in the 2003 season, including a loss in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
