BATON ROUGE — The LSU men’s golf team moved up one spot to No. 26 in the latest edition of the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings, it was announced on Monday.
The Tigers, who have steadily climbed up the rankings in the last few weeks, have achieved their highest national ranking since being ranked 24th by GolfWorld on Feb. 24, 2002. LSU finished sixth out of 15 teams at the Louisiana Classics Intercollegiate on Tuesday in Lafayette, La., as all five Tiger golfers finished in the top 35 individually.
LSU is joined by six fellow Southeastern Conference schools in the top 50 of the rankings, including No. 1 Florida and 12th-ranked South Carolina. Kentucky, Arkansas, and Tennessee are ranked 21st through 23rd. Vanderbilt is ranked 35th.
The Tigers will next be in action when LSU travels to Statesboro, Ga., March 20-21 for the prestigious Schenkel/E-Z-Go Invitational.
