BATON ROUGE — LSU fell two spots to 12th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll released Tuesday, despite beating New Orleans, 6-1, in its only contest of the week.
The Tigers (7-0) are still ranked third among Southeastern Conference teams behind Ole Miss at No. 2 and Florida at No. 3. They begin their push for the SEC title this weekend when they host No. 21 Georgia at 2 p.m. Friday and No. 39 Tennessee at 1 p.m Sunday.
Other SEC teams ranked in the top 25 include No. 15 Kentucky, No. 19 South Carolina, No. 22 Vanderbilt, No. 24 Alabama and No. 25 Arkansas. Mississippi State was 43rd.
The Tigers began the season at 19th and climbed to 17th, 15th and finally 10th in last week’s poll.
A new team poll will be released next Tuesday along with new singles and doubles rankings. The Tigers currently have five players individually ranked, led by the No. 13 doubles pair of Bryan Fisher and Jason Hazley. Cory Ross and Danny Bryan are ranked 21st in doubles and Ken Skupski is 87th in singles.
