BATON ROUGE — LSU’s Lady Tiger track and field program held on to its No. 1 ranking for an eighth straight week, while the Tigers dropped two spots to No. 4 in the latest Trackwire 25 polls released Tuesday.
The two-time defending NCAA Indoor champion Lady Tigers top this week’s standings with 55 points. 2004 SEC champion, Florida, is No. 2 with 52 points, while Nebraska and Texas are knotted at No. 3 (45) and Tennessee is No. 5 (44).
Arkansas remains at the top of the men’s rankings for an eighth consecutive week with 67 points. Auburn moved up one spot to No. 2 (42) and Florida jumped three spots to No. 3 (36) after its win at the SEC Championships. LSU fell to fourth (35) and Michigan remains in fifth (30).
Individually, LSU has 15 athletes and two relay teams rank among the top 12 this week.
All-American Muna Lee has earned top billing in the 60-meter dash for the first time season after winning the SEC title with a NCAA-leading time of 7.17.
The women’s 4×400-meter relay team of Hazelann Regis, Neisha Bernard-Thomas, Monique Hall and Nadia Davy also catapulted into the No. 1 position after posting a world-leading time of 3:29.42 to win the conference title.
LSU hosts its final indoor meet of the season, the Last Chance Meet, this Friday at 3:30 p.m. in the Carl Maddox Fieldhouse.
