COLUMBIA, S.C. — The Lady Tigers will try to even their Southeastern Conference record Sunday when they face 48th-ranked South Carolina.
LSU (7-2, 0-1) will have to be ready for the Lady Gamecocks, who feature 85th-ranked Danielle Wiggins at No. 1 singles and a powerful supporting cast.
“South Carolina is always good,” said LSU head coach Tony Minnis. “We are going to have to make sure we come out focused. It’s going to be a fight.”
The Lady Tigers are coming off a loss to second-ranked Florida in their SEC opener. They will continue to try to make up for the loss of junior Amanda Mang, who injured her hand in LSU’s 4-3 win over Florida State last weekend.
LSU’s 77th-ranked Jessica Ferguson, along with Rocio Fantilli will try to compensate at the top of the singles lineup. Marina Chiarelli, Lauren Seaman, Camila Caliari and Daysi Espinal have been solid contributors in the bottom four positions this season.
