LEXINGTON, Ky. — Gavin Fleming, a freshman from Missouri City, Texas, posted three personal records in the 60-meter dash (7.40), long jump (21-0 1/2) and shot put (33-1) Friday at the 2004 SEC Indoor Championships.
“Gavin had his best sixty of the year. He had his best long jump of the year. He had his best shot put of the year. If you are doing that, then you can’t ask for more,” said LSU head coach Pat Henry.
Megan Akre also had a personal record in the 60-meter hurdles (8.92) and a seasonal record in the high jump (5-3), while Dianne Harrison had a personal record in the shot put (40-11).
“These are all young athletes in the group that are working this multi right now. They all have PR’s in every event they have done. Anytime you can come to this competition and do those kinds of things, then we feel like they are accomplishing some things.”
The Tigers continue action tomorrow with the rest of the Men’s Heptathlon and the start of the field and running events.
