BATON ROUGE — LSU’s 10th-ranked gymnastics team will compete in its third meet in eight days Friday when it welcomes No. 18 Auburn to the Pete Maravich Assembly Center for a 7 p.m. dual meet.

The Tigers, who have scored 197.000 or better in each of their last three meets, look to continue that streak as they return to SEC action. LSU took a break from the conference slate Monday when it defeated No. 11 Arizona and Texas Woman’s in Denton, Texas.

The Tigers will lean on all-arounders April Burkholder and Kelly Phelan as they go for their third straight win.

Burkholder, the winner of five straight all-around titles, is ranked No. 2 in the country this season, averaging a 39.561.

Phelan has posted solid all-around efforts in each of her last two outings, most recently scoring a career-high 39.350 against Kentucky.

Auburn enters the meet with a 6-3 overall record and an even 3-3 mark in SEC action. The Tigers are riding a two-meet win streak that saw them upset No. 5 Florida before defeating New Hampshire, Temple and Yale in a quad-meet Saturday.

LSU leads the all-time series with Auburn, 46-8, a mark that includes a 14-2 record at the PMAC. LSU has won the last nine straight meets against Auburn at home, last falling to AU, 188.525-184.850, at the 1992 NCAA Central Regional Championships.

Following the Auburn meet, LSU will return to action next Friday, March 5, when it hosts Ohio State its final home meet of the regular season.
