BATON ROUGE — LSU’s 10th-ranked gymnastics team returns to action Friday when it takes on Kentucky in a 7 p.m. dual-meet at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
The Tigers (5-4, 1-3 SEC) are coming off two straight roads meets that saw them upset then-No. 13 Arkansas, 196.775-196.450, before falling to former No. 3 Georgia despite a season-high 197.300.
LSU has been led by the all-around efforts of sophomore April Burkholder. The Houston, Texas, native who has won four straight all-around titles and is currently the highest ranked all-around competitor in the SEC, sitting at No. 7 nationally.
Kentucky (1-9, 0-4 SEC) is coming off a, 197.075-195.025, loss to No. 1 Alabama. The Wildcats have been led by senior all-arounder Arounda Primault who has won three all-around titles this season, including a win against the Crimson Tide.
LSU holds a commanding 47-3 all-times series lead over Kentucky, a mark that includes 15-1 record at home. The Tigers have not lost to the Wildcats since the 1996 season, when UK defeated LSU, 195.250-193.325, at the SEC Championships in Lexington.
LSU returns to action Monday, when it travels to Denton, Texas, for a 7 p.m. (CST) tri-meet with host-Texas Woman’s and No. 15 Arizona.
