BATON ROUGE — The LSU men’s golf team moved up four spots to No. 31 in the latest edition of the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings on Monday.
The Tigers, coming off a seventh-place finish at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship last week in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., were ranked 35th in last week’s poll and have achieved their highest ranking since holding the 24th spot in the Golf World Coaches Poll on Feb. 24, 2002. Golfweek had LSU ranked 50th that same week.
Florida remained the nation’s No.1-ranked team after tying for second at the Mercedes, 27 shots behind victor South Carolina. Clemson, UCLA, Georgia Tech, and Georgia round out the top five. Eight Southeastern Conference teams are currently ranked in the top 50, as Arkansas and South Carolina are each ranked in the top 15.
The Tigers will next be in action March 7-9 as the Tigers participate in the Cajun Classic at Oakborne Country Club in Lafayette, La.
