BATON ROUGE — The Lady Tigers have a chance to extend their perfect record Saturday at home when they host Houston at 11 a.m.
It is the Lady Tigers’ last match before a series of tough road trips that will keep them away from their home stadium for almost a month.
Houston (4-1) should provide a tough challenge for the Lady Tigers (6-0). The Lady Cougars feature a solid lineup mostly made up of talented underclassmen.
“They should be good,” said LSU head coach Tony Minnis. “We have to continue playing well.”
LSU has outlasted tough opponents in their last two matches, beating Purdue 4-3 two weeks ago and topping Rice 6-1 last weekend.
LSU’s doubles play has been particularly outstanding under the leadership of junior Amanda Mang and senior Rocio Fantilli. The duo is undefeated this season at No. 1 doubles.
Senior Jessica Ferguson has spent most of the season at No. 1 singles for the Lady Tigers. She has built a solid 7-1 record and last week beat No. 51 Lauren Archer of Rice.
After Saturday’s match, the Lady Tigers head into a six-match stretch on the road that includes four teams ranked in the Top 25.
