BATON ROUGE — The LSU men’s tennis team will host three home matches this weekend against in-state competition from Louisiana-Lafayette, Southeastern Louisiana and Centenary.
The 15th-ranked Tigers (2-0) return to action Saturday against 71st-ranked Louisiana Lafayette at 2 p.m. The Ragin’ Cajuns feature No. 86 Evghenii Corduneanu at the top of a talented roster.
“The ULL coach (Justin McGrath) is a former SEC assistant coach and has brought an SEC style there,” said LSU head coach Jeff Brown. “They are strong at the top and have depth throughout.”
Southeastern and Centenary face the Tigers at noon and 4 p.m. Sunday.
“Southeastern has an improving team,” Brown said. “We can always expect a hard fought match.
“Centenary is going to be our third match of the weekend, so our guys will need to have strong focus.”
The Tigers have won 77 consecutive matches against in-state opponents.
The Tigers won their first two matches easily before taking a two-week break. They beat Southern and Southern Miss by scores of 6-1 and 7-0 on January 31.
