BATON ROUGE — LSU’s men’s and women’s track and field teams return to the road this weekend, traveling to New York, N.Y., for the prestigious Armory Invitational, Feb. 13-14.
The meet will be held at the Armory Track and Field Center. Competition will begin Friday at 8 a.m. with the women’s weight throw and continue Saturday at 9:15 a.m. with the men’s shot put competition.
LSU’s top-ranked Lady Tigers and second-ranked Tigers will participate in the meet’s University Division, facing the challenging competition from Georgia, Purdue, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas among others.
The two-day meet, which mimics the format of the SEC and NCAA Championships, will allow many of the LSU athletes to compete in multiple events for the first time this season.
All-Americans John Moffitt and LeJuan Simon will double in the horizontal jumps, competing in both the long and triple jump events, while sprinters Pete Coley and Kelly Willie are each scheduled to run both the 200 and 400 meters.
On the women’s side, senior Muna Lee and junior Tania Woods will each take a turn in the 60 and 200-meter dashes, while quartermilers Nadia Davy and Hazelann Regis will take to the track in both the 400 meters and the 4×400-meter relay.
Following the Armory Invitational, the LSU track and field team will return to Baton Rouge to host the LSU Twilight, Fri., Feb. 20, at the Carl Maddox Fieldhouse.
