BATON ROUGE — LSU’s 16th-ranked Lady Tigers basketball team will attempt to give head coach Sue Gunter her 700th career victory in the friendly confines of the Pete Maravich Assembly Center on Thursday against Arkansas at 7 p.m. CST.
Gunter, in her 22nd season at LSU and 40th overall, will become the third coach in women’s basketball history to reach 700 victories when LSU gets its next win. She will join Tennessee’s Pat Summitt and Texas’ Jody Conradt, who both have over 800 career wins. Gunter also earned her 600thcareer win against Arkansas (14-7, 3-5 SEC) on Jan. 13, 2000 in Fayetteville.
LSU (18-4, 6-2 SEC) enters the game having won two of three, but are coming off a loss at Auburn on Sunday. Arkansas (14-7, 3-5 SEC) has dropped four of five, but defeated No. 16 Georgia at home on Sunday.
