TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — LSU’s 14th-ranked Lady Tigers basketball team hits the road for the fourth time in the five games when they visit Coleman Coliseum on Thursday for a 7 p.m. CST tip against the Alabama Crimson Tide in Southeastern Conference action.
The Lady Tigers (17-3, 5-1 SEC) will try to snap a nine-game losing streak at Tuscaloosa. LSU has not won at Alabama (10-10, 2-5 SEC) since 1986 and will try to snap that streak with a team that enters the game having won 16 of its last 17 games, including a 82-62 victory over South Carolina at home on Sunday.
Alabama, on the other hand, come into the game having dropped five in a row after opening the SEC with wins over South Carolina and Ole Miss. The Crimson Tide are coming off road losses at Florida and Georgia.
Sophomore Seimone Augustus, who was not even two years old yet when LSU last won in Tuscaloosa, leads the Lady Tigers with 17.7 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. She is followed by Doneeka Hodges with 15.0 points per game and Temeka Johnson who is averaging 11.8 points, 7.8 assists and 5.3 rebounds per contest.
Junior guard Monique Bivins leads Alabama with 13.5 points and 4.6 rebounds per outing.
This will be the 37th meeting between the two schools. LSU leads the series 20-16 and has won two of last three. Alabama leads the series in Tuscaloosa 11-6.
Following the game, LSU will continue its swing through the state of Alabama and visit Auburn on Sunday at 7 p.m. CST.
